About this Countdown Timer
This countdown timer counts down to any moment you choose. Give the event a name, pick the date and the time of day, and press Start Countdown. The display then shows the remaining days, hours, minutes, and seconds, refreshing once a second so you always see the live figure. Press Clear to stop the timer and reset the fields.
The countdown uses your device's own clock and time zone, so the target time you type is the local time where you are. If you are counting down to something that happens in another part of the world — a stream, a match, or a meeting — convert the start time to your local time first and then enter that value.
People use countdowns for exams, weddings, birthdays, holidays, product launches, ticket sales, project deadlines, and results days. Seeing the time remaining as a single live number makes a distant date feel concrete, which is why countdowns are such a popular way to plan and to build anticipation. You can also point the timer at a date that has already passed, in which case it shows how much time has gone by since that moment instead.
Everything happens inside your browser: the target date is never uploaded or saved on a server. Because the timer lives in the page, closing or reloading the tab clears it, so re-enter the date if you come back later. Leaving the tab in the background is fine — the countdown catches up as soon as the page is visible again, because it always compares against the current clock rather than counting ticks.
Note: This is a date-based countdown rather than an alarm. It does not play a sound or send a notification when the target is reached; it simply switches to a message confirming that the moment has arrived.
